Conducting & Chords & a Quintet

The most difficult performance is the one you do alone. Good job, Christopher.

Our premier quintet performance playing by memory!
Shelly’s conducting an F chord!
Rachel conducting. Is that an F chord or a G chord I hear?

Field Trip to the McCallum Theatre

Next Thursday, 11-3,  Room Eleven travels to Palm Desert for our long-awaited TAIKO PROJECT performance. The following Monday will be our last reflective session with our spectacular Teaching Artist, Miss Karen.

Some Permission Slips were handed out today, the rest will go home tomorrow, Thursday, 10-27. We have one parent chaperone accompanying us to the Theatre. After the performance we will walk to a nearby park and enjoy a picnic lunch. I have ordered 25 school lunches. Please have your child tell me if they plan to bring their own lunch. Usually we have about 5 to 7 children having a home lunch.

Thank you to all our family bakers! We don’t have the total amount raised from last night’s bake sale yet as we are still selling our yummy items before and after school! We think we may have raised over $75!

Damian and his mom, Mrs. M. were hard at work last night selling See’s chocolate bars during Science Night – great work! No wonder I didn’t see you, Damian, over at the ‘reflex corner’. {Remember the See’s candy sales help us pay for the EXCELLENT McCallum Theatre Aesthetic Education Program. We’re the only Third Grade class participating this year and we feel extra special!} Saphire was selling and modelling sparkly ‘halos’ with long ribbons for everyone to purchase and enjoy.

Once again, Saphire’s mom, Miss Sarah, came in this week and took on an organizational project for me and I really appreciate it! This helps all our Room Eleven community members. Thank you.

A jumble of synonyms and antonyms…

We are trying to think of a creative way to display all of our excellent word-work efforts in our classroom! Maybe a wee bit of fishing line is needed... hmmm?

Science Night

Thank you to all of our families who attended our super Science Night! I had a great time testing your reflexes.  Next weekend (Nov. 5th-6th) I will upload to this blog the slide show (presented last night) on “How to do a Science Project”.  You will then have it easily accessible to refer to when your child is working on the required elements.

Now is a really good time to be discussing with your student what topic they might be interested in and then by Thanksgiving or Winter Break he or she may want to get started on a project. Science projects are not mandatory in Third Grade. We suggest you give it a try & have fun with the process.

Children may do their own personal project, or work with two or three other students on a group project from their same grade level and school. Most years we have a couple of teachers giving an after-school class in January guiding students who are motivated.
