This Week: Santa’s Secret Shop & Winter Holiday Program

  1. Miss Sarah reminded me about the wonderful Secret Santa Shop at school! Every day after you have finished your lunch you may shop for gifts in Room 27. Our Parent Club does an amazing job organizing this lovely opportunity for the children.

  2. Wear your nice clothes on Thursday for the Holiday Show. Tops should be White, Red, Green or any holiday combination. Bottoms may be skirts or trousers in a dark color. Girls may wear holiday dresses if they prefer. Boys may wear a collared shirt and tie if they choose.

  3. Remember if your family is planning to come to the 1:00PM show, they should arrive very early to get a parking space (it will be crowded) and a seat up front to see YOU perform!

Wow! Super Sized Total Lunar Eclipse Saturday Morning

Saturday morning people living on the West Coast of North America have a chance to see a special sight in the sky. You will be in FIFTH GRADE the next time this event happens!

The action begins around 4:45 AM Pacific Standard Time when the red shadow of Earth first falls across the lunar disk.  By 6:05 AM Pacific Time, the Moon will be fully engulfed in red light. This event—the last total lunar eclipse until 2014—is visible from the Pacific side of North America, across the entire Pacific Ocean to Asia and Eastern Europe. The show will be completely over by 6:57AM.

  • Before you go to sleep Friday night, set your alarm clock

  • Wake up early, put on your warm coat, hat, & shoes

  • Get outside with your family to witness a SUPER SIZED Eclipse of the Moon!

SUPER SIZE MY MOON!

Looking ahead to January 2012

Our Adams Family of  McCallum Theatre Aesthetic Education Teachers  (Mrs. Brock, Mrs. Dreweatt, Mrs. Pearce and myself)  met today after school for an intensive planning session for our next unit of study “Tales of the Pacific Rim”.  First we introduced ourselves to our lovely Teaching Artist, Francesca Amari. Then we ‘put our heads together’ and created a  long list of engaging activities to enhance our learning experiences throughout the month.

The story teller artist, Brenda Wong Aoki will be entertaining our students on January 30th when we travel to back to the McCallum Theatre. Ms Aoki and her husband Mark Izo will capture everyone’s heart as they perform stories and music of people living between worlds.
