Wow! Super Sized Total Lunar Eclipse Saturday Morning

Saturday morning people living on the West Coast of North America have a chance to see a special sight in the sky. You will be in FIFTH GRADE the next time this event happens!

The action begins around 4:45 AM Pacific Standard Time when the red shadow of Earth first falls across the lunar disk.  By 6:05 AM Pacific Time, the Moon will be fully engulfed in red light. This event—the last total lunar eclipse until 2014—is visible from the Pacific side of North America, across the entire Pacific Ocean to Asia and Eastern Europe. The show will be completely over by 6:57AM.

 

  • Before you go to sleep Friday night, set your alarm clock

  • Wake up early, put on your warm coat, hat, & shoes

  • Get outside with your family to witness a SUPER SIZED Eclipse of the Moon!
